Why the ‘Low Price Guarantee’ can cost you big

Low price guarantee!

How many times have you seen that claim in advertising?

Well, we're here to tell you the so called 'Low Price Guarantee' isn't all it's cracked up to be. In fact, shopping based on price at the exclusion of all other factors can get expensive - fast. Here's why.

De-emphasis on quality

We picked up a client last year who bought embroidered polos from an e-commerce site which makes a living on the 'Low Price Guarantee', but in the end, the customer spent their hard earned money twice. In shopping price alone first time around, they ended up with an inferior garment and poor decorating (a badly puckering sewn logo). It's cheaper in the long run for you to get into a better product the first time, this irrespective of what you're shopping for (promotional items, uniforms, fill in the blank!).

De-emphasis on client care

What happens if your order doesn't turn out the way you hoped? Or if just a portion of your order doesn't meet expectations? Is the company you bought from forthright and communicative? Are they willing to make the matter right without an interrogation or delay? Omaha Promos is 100% client-centric; that means your satisfaction is at the center of everything we do. We've eaten odd fees and taken anecdotal losses to protect our customers. Make sure businesses you're dealing with are similarly committed.

De-emphasis on tenure

Does it matter whether the outfit you're dealing with has been in business for a long time? Do you have faith that a less tenured company will be there a year from now in the same way you trust a company with, for example, a near 90 year tenure in the promotional products industry? It's something to consider. There are legion fly-by-night businesses out there; it's up to you whether you want to align yourself with one, and entrust them with your hard earned money.

De-emphasis on expertise

An employee of ours was in the market for a snow blower. After doing initial research online, he visited retailers. He walked out of a big home improvement center with the lowest advertised price because help was non-existent. Eventually, he happily spent another 20 bucks to purchase the same unit from a locally owned small engine repair shop with a friendly and articulate salesperson. Quality product + reasonable price + expert technical advice and product knowledge = Winner every time.

De-emphasis on supporting local economy

If you're buying from a distant e-commerce site or a national chain, you are mosty likely not supporting your local economy. That's a sad thing from our point of view. Our company wouldn't be what it is today absent the support of fellow Omahans who believe in doing business with their neighbors. Omaha Promos is a member of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce and we participate in the Buy the Big O! Show as well. Please, be active in your community and support locally owned businesses at every opportunity.

When it's time for your organization to take it to the next level through creative branding, we ask you to compare Omaha Promos' combination of experience, business ethic, selection, commitment to client care -and, yes, price- when making a decision who to spend your money with.

Just remember: price and value, while inexorably intertwined, are not the same thing.
