Testimonial: Omaha Friendly Services

Omaha Promos, LLC is an Omaha based promotional products and branded merch company - family owned and family operated for almost 90 years in fact.  One of the things we like best in life is supporting other Omaha area businesses when it's time for a big project or purchase.  If at all possible, Buy The Big O!

Well, we had a tremendous drainage problem in our back yard. Runoff from homes above us and an imperfectly graded lot our house was built on conspired to make for a soggy mess every time we experienced a hard rain.  We're talking ankle-deep water in the grass.

I initially bumped into Omaha Friendly Services on Twitter (@Omaha_Friendly) one day during a tweet exchange about the Omaha Chamber of Commerce; we're both members of the Chamber.

Paul Fraynd (second generation owner of Omaha Friendly Services and an all around great guy) offered to come out and design a water abatement plan for the back yard that would serve double duty as a decorative screening area from a looming two-story walkout right behind us.

Over the course of two long days, Omaha Friendly's appropriately named (way friendly!) crew brought in 30 yards of fill dirt, 2.5 tons of river rock, 2.25 tons of boulders, 7 yards of mulch, three trees, 66 individual plantings, weed barrier, vinyl edging, and 70+ tulip bulbs to be installed next month during optimal tulip planting season.  (Tulip planting season! Who knew?)

The photos hardly do the job justice.  The project reduces the amount of maintenance we have in the back yard (e.g. mowing) over 25%; the rock flume they constructed behind the earthen berm effectively runs water away from our saturated yard and out to the property lines; and the built-up berm with ornamental grasses and three beautiful new trees provide immediate coziness to a once open, uninviting space.

There are bigger landscape operations in the Omaha metro area.  Bigger, not better.  Omaha Friendly Services made adjustments to the design in real time, never complaining that they had a homeowner looking over their shoulder as they worked. Omaha Friendly even replaced one of the three trees we didn't prefer because we thought the original one was too small - no extra charge.

Pardon me?  Wow...

It's that sort of flexibility, willingness to accommodate the customer, general enthusiasm and personal investment in their work that will have me suggesting Omaha Friendly Services to everyone in my personal network.  Here's how you can find them:
