Custom T-Shirt Options from Omaha Promos

Omaha Promos (and Omaha Promos Kansas City) are known as innovators in the promotional products and promotional advertising/marketing industries, however, our specialty is custom clothing/custom apparel and uniforms.

This week we'd like to concentrate on one of our branded merch staples, the custom T-shirt. We'll get into fabrics, cut and fit options for your custom t-shirt purchase in another installment of Omaha Promos News, but for this week we'll discuss your decorating options. Here are some of the most prevalent ways Omaha Promos can spruce up your custom t-shirt creation and increase your brand awareness in the marketplace!

Screen Printing

Screen printing is among the most popular ways to decorate a custom t-shirt from Omaha Promos. (You'll sometimes see this method called silk-screening.) Screen printing is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a shirt or other item. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the shirt momentarily along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the shirt and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed. One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multicolored image or design. Omaha Promos does some pretty amazing t-shirt designs with the screen printing method!

Direct To Garment (DTG)

Direct to garment printing  or DTG printing of your custom shirt from Omaha Promos is a process by which special printers hold a garment in a fixed position and specialty inks are applied to the shirt and absorbed by the garment's fibers. DTG is a digital process that results in sharper, higher resolution custom t-shirt designs than screen printing. And unlike screen printing, there is no lengthy setup, so we can create custom shirts with low minimums and at an attractive price point. It should be noted DTG printing isn't as durable as some other decorating methods, so your design may not last quite as long (this isn't an issue if your project is a vintage t-shirt).

Dye Sublimation

Dye sublimation is a custom decorating process using heat to transfer dye onto materials such as a plastic, card, paper or fabric. Many dye-sublimation printers are designed and used for producing photographic prints, ID cards, clothing and more. Dye sublimation works well on light shirts or fabrics. Dye sublimation decorating tends to cost a little more than other ways of decorating a custom t-shirt, but the result is a highly professional and beautifully executed custom garment from Omaha Promos. Dye sublimation is a particularly good choice for poly-blend shirts and is quite durable.

Heat Press Printing

Heat press printing involves a special press that's used to apply heat and pressure to your Omaha Promos custom t-shirt design. For high-volume operations involving continuous imprinting of items, automatic shuttle and dual platen transfer presses are used. The shirts to be imprinted are continuously loaded onto the lower platen and shuttled under the heat platen, which then applies the necessary heat and pressure. The pattern is printed in sublimating ink on sublimating paper which allows the pattern to transfer. You can get some highly effective patterns and great effects using this technique, and it's affordable too.
