What’s New in the Promotional Products Industry?

Omaha Promos aren’t mere order takers. We’ve worked hard to become your custom apparel experts through ongoing industry education. This isn’t just a paycheck for us, it’s a tradition of excellence in promotional products and decorated apparel spanning four generations, since 1923 in fact.

While a big chunk of our annual business involves custom clothing and corporate apparel, we do wheelbarrows full of promotional products too. Think: branded merch. One of the more exciting developments in this vein is what’s called four color process imprinting. This involves separating an image into four different color values by the use of special filters and screens. In a bygone era, this was done with photographic film (the plasticky cellulose stuff) and an old school camera, but today is accomplished digitally with powerful software. The result is precise color separation of four images that, when transferred to printing plates and sequentially printed on a press with colored inks, accurately reproduces the original color image. Not everyone is doing this (it’s new technology), but Omaha Promos is!

This translates into better looking branded promotional items, particularly if you have a detailed logo with more than one or two colors. We used to be limited to 1-3 colors. Nowadays, you can get your multi-colored logo imprinted in full on a variety of cool client/supplier gifts or promotional products that will bring pride and attention to your company or organization.

Oh, you might be wondering how this technology could affect the price of your promotional products purchase. With a traditional imprinting process on multiple colors, you would typically get the first color free, but then be forced to pay additional setup charges for additional colors. Add to that run charges for each new color. If it sounds expensive, well, it can be. Luckily though, the new four color process is more cost effective.
